The ZIP Launchpad has a special focus that aims to inspire students to develop startups
that improve the lives of our elderly. Seniors (65+) are projected to surpass 20%
of the US population by 2030, up from 15% today. Based on the generous philanthropic
support that created the Marylinn J. Metzke initiative, we can to solve problems that
address loneliness, community involvement, and the ability to live independently without
excessive assistance.

Highlighted Event
Visionary Health Challenge
The Visionary Health Challenge is the flagship ZIP Launchpad event which aims to bring SDSU students to create ideas that create a higher standard for how human beings keep their bodies healthy. The event places an emphasis on helping students, specifically in the College of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences and in the College of Health and Human Services, apply their knowledge of the human body and health services to innovate the ways by which the sick and/or disabled are cared for and by which healthy people keep their bodies, and minds, operating as effectively as possible. A $1500 prize will be awarded to the team with the Most Innovative Presentation. A $500 prize will be awarded to the team with the Second Most Innovative Presentation. A $1000 prize will be awarded to the team with the Most Innovative "Aging" Presentation.
